Film Adaption

Part B

The book that I am currently reading is Inheritance by Christopher Paolini. If I was hired to write the screen play for a film adaption of my novel I would probably have to cut out a lot out of the story, unless I want to make a long movie like the Lord of the Rings. My book is about 860 pages, so if I were to make a short movie, about an hour and a half, I would probably cut parts that don't really add up to the main story line. All the extra details in my book that aren't really needed would probably have to be cut out. I would just stick to the main plot of the story and put in the main parts that are crucial to the plot. Personally, I would make a long movie like at least two to three hours like the Lord of the Rings. A movie was made before on the first book of this trilogy called Eragon. It was a short movie, running about 104 minutes, but it didn't get a really good rating due to a lot of extra detail that was left out that would of made the movie much better. I would hire actors that would play the characters role very well, and it would probably take a long time to make if I were to make them like the Lord of the Rings movies.

Suspense

The book that I am currently reading is "Night" by Elie Wiesel. A suspenseful moment in my book is when the Nazi's are deciding whether to send Elie and his father to the gas chambers to be killed depending on whether they look strong or weak. Elements that were used to create suspense during this part was the setting and characters. Both Elie and his father are Jews who are sent to a Nazi concentration camp during World War 2. Also there is a protagonist in the story, and that being Elie Wiesel. Elie has a powerful motivation to survive the holocaust with his father. Elie and his father share this special bond that they didn't have before, and this creates a suspense to the reader that you don't want to see them get separated or allow one of them to die. The setting is set at a time of great depression and chaos. Jews are getting violated and murdered for no reasons. This builds up to the suspense and how the character reacts to its environment. Also there are Nazi's everywhere which builds up to the suspense as well.
