What is your goal for the reader by the end of your tapestry?
My goal for the reader is to demonstrate a clear understanding of the theme courage. I want my reader to fully understand the concept and key idea for courage, and also be able to reflect on the theme with there own thoughts. By providing text, images and video to relate to the theme courage, the reader gets a full idea of the theme being demonstrated.
Courage can be defined in many ways. "The ability to do something that frightens one" Oxford Dictionary) is one of many definitions. However, what courage means to me is believing, no matter how frightened you are of the consequences, that you can achieve the unachievable. It is confronting the darkness to come out shining bright. It is about the strength from within, conquering the weakness with yourself. Courage is facing your fears, but not becoming fearless. It is remaining who you are, but becoming more. When visualizing courage, I picture an old woman in a third world country shouting at the soldiers razing her village. I picture a little kid standing up to the school bully, and a daughter of a traditional family who marries outside the faith. I think there are endless opportunities for every person to exemplify courage. Therefore, there is no definition of courage and consequently, courage can be discovered in a variety of ways.
